Flood Emergency 2024
Urgent Urent, Urgent
Dear Alumni of Chittagong Medical College,
As we watch the devastating floods sweep across Bangladesh, our hearts ache for our beloved Chittagong, which now finds itself in the grip of an unprecedented crisis. Torrential rains have unleashed catastrophic flooding, submerging entire communities and leaving countless families stranded, struggling to survive without the most basic necessities. The situation is heartbreaking: roads have been washed away, homes destroyed, and vital infrastructure lies in ruins. What we face now is not just a natural disaster, but a dire humanitarian emergency.
In Chattogram’s Fatikchhari, Sitakunda, and Mirsarai Upazilas, over 20,000 families have been severely impacted. They have lost not just their homes, but their livelihoods. Entire fields of crops have been swallowed by the floods, threatening the region’s food security and leaving a bleak future for those who rely on the land. The disruption of crucial roadways, including the lifeline that is the Dhaka-Chittagong highway, has isolated these communities further, complicating rescue and relief efforts at a time when every minute counts.
This is our moment to stand together, to show the strength and compassion of our community. Your generosity can light a path out of despair for those who are suffering. Please, donate as generously as you can to help the flood victims in Chittagong.
Together, we can make a difference.

In an extraordinary gesture of solidarity, the CMC Alumni USA President has graciously agreed to match up to $10,000 from CMC Alumni USA disaster fund if we can raise $10,000 or more through alumni donations.
Let us rise to this challenge, as we always have, with open hearts and a shared commitment to our community.
