A Message to Our Alumni Family One Month In
– Where We Stand

Dear fellow alumni,

Today marks exactly one month since your new Executive Committee took office. It has been a full and purposeful month, and I want to share with you where we stand.

Transparency First

This Committee was entrusted with a mandate of transparency, and we intend to honor it in practice, not merely in word. We have resolved that the minutes of every Executive Committee meeting will be shared with the entire general membership. In keeping with that commitment, the minutes of our very first meeting have already been circulated to you. An informed membership is an engaged membership, and we want no distance between your Committee and you.

A Living Framework

We have formed a permanent Constitution Review Committee, and the membership has already been notified of its formation and its scope. A living organization deserves a living framework, and this committee will ensure our governing documents continue to serve us faithfully in the years ahead.

Setting Our House in Order

We have also begun the careful work of building a permanent and corrected membership and life-membership roster. An accurate roster is the foundation of fair governance and genuine engagement, and we ask for your cooperation as we complete it.

On financial matters, our current Treasurer is working closely with the former Treasurer to prepare a complete accounting of the last reunion’s expenditures and earnings, and to finalize the transfer of accounts. Clean and transparent stewardship of every dollar entrusted to us is a responsibility we take seriously.

Our Shared Direction

At our first meeting, the Committee agreed upon a Mission and Vision statement to guide our work through this term. That statement has been shared with you, and we hope it reflects the aspirations we all hold for our alumni family.

Chittagong Medical College Earns BMEAC Accreditation

Let me close with news that fills all of us with pride. Our alma mater, Chittagong Medical College, has been granted accreditation recognition by the Bangladesh Medical Education Accreditation Council (BMEAC) — a five-year accredited status. This is more than a milestone; it is the first step toward World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) recognition for our graduates.

Here is why it matters: BMEAC’s own application for WFME recognition is currently under review, and accrediting a pilot cohort of medical colleges — with CMC proudly among them — was a requirement of WFME’s evaluation of the Council. Once BMEAC secures WFME recognition, every college it has accredited, including Chittagong Medical College, will automatically be regarded as WFME-accredited — opening doors to training and practice around the world for our students and future graduates.

A fitting note to end on: the institution that shaped us all continues to rise. Thank you for your trust and your engagement.
