CMC Alumni USA Supports Flood-Affected Families in Chittagong

When Chittagong flooded in July 2026, CMC Alumni USA responded with practical support for families affected by the devastating floods. Alumni from the United States raised $1,300, which was promptly disbursed in full to Sandhani CMC to support health camps, essential medicines, and rehabilitation-related assistance.

The first health camp was organized by the Sandhani CMC team on 31 July 2026 in Sarol Union, Banshkhali, Chittagong. Held in a village school, the camp provided medical consultations and blood-pressure checks to 64 flood-affected patients. Educational materials were also distributed to 70 schoolchildren whose books had been lost in the flood, while three families received household supplies.

Upcoming Program

A second health camp is scheduled to be organized soon. The estimated cost of the two health camps is $820. The remaining $480 from the alumni contribution has been donated to the Sandhani Drug Bank, where life-saving medicines are being distributed to poor and needy patients.

The Sandhani CMC students organized and conducted the first health camp themselves, bringing alumni support directly to people affected by the disaster. The initiative reflects the spirit of “Learning for Serving” — connecting medical education with service to the community.
